I want to take a few minutes, just talk about a little bit to the newer teammates here today. And you know, I probably feel that a lot of us are the same, just like how I was when I was brand new and you know, we wanted to learn, we want to make money, right? We wanted to build a team and like the speakers were talking about, we want to make six figure income, seven figure income and be financially free, right? But how, right? We don’t know anything about finance. And when I first sat in the big meeting, I had no idea what, you know, business was, what finance, what even money was because I came from a very low income household. I came to this country when I was 10 years old and had don’t know a word of English.
My parents don’t speak any English at all even now and definitely wouldn’t be teaching us or taught us how to run a business or be successful as a business owner. So they were labor workers. My mom never went to school, had no education, my dad probably fifth or sixth grade education. So when I found Primerica 20 plus ago, I was working as a customer service rep at a property and casualty agency. You know, no background experience in finance. Now I couldn’t even balance my own checkbook. So even though I had a finance degree, but you know, they, the corporate America don’t teach you those. So now, thank God we said yes to Primerica, I had to completely reinvent myself, right? And it’s probably the, if you guys who knew me early on, I was probably the most introverted person that you can think of.
And you know, I grew up with the poverty mentality and didn’t have people skill or leadership skill. But one of the things that I learned is I had a deep desire to be somebody. I didn’t know what I want to be, but I wanted to win so bad. And when I saw the opportunity, it kind of just spoke to me, right? Just like anything new, if your life depends on your skill set to survive and thrive, what would you do to get good or what are you willing to sacrifice? So here are a few things that we have learned and hurt them hundreds and thousands of times and just get good at it, right? So hope that can help you. So number one is self improve.
You probably heard the leaders talked about it today where you got to grow yourself, be obsessed with growing, build mental toughness because at the end of the day nobody’s coming to save us. So get good at all aspects of the business, right? And our first book actually reread or somebody recommended was Rich Dad. Poor dad. That actually helped me change the way I think about money. Pastor Lano, that was awesome. Right? Whatever the mind can conceive and believe in can achieve. So we had a goal early on in the beginning of the month, we want to make 42,000. And so that has been driving force for us to go out there every day. And second thing, which is really important, what will come from what you think in your mind is have a clear goal, right? Ccmp, clear concise mental picture.
What do you want to achieve? Right. Break it down to daily, every day, what you do, what you need to do. And we heard Keith talked about it all the time. Our focus every day, just pick up a check a day. If you’re brand new here, think about focusing on Springton to district. Get fully licensed like Blake was talking about. Get trained and be competent. Third is go through massive activities, condensed timeframe learning. Right. Don’t worry about perfection. There’s no such thing as perfection. Just take action, be hungry for experiences. Four is be totally committed. Committed to the company, to the system, to your rvp, to your team. And most importantly, committed to your growth. Right. We are clients of every product Primerica has. We totally convinced that when we sit down with someone we share with them, they come across as confident.
And I truly believe we have the best because I believe everything we do. And because of Primerica, we have what we have today. Number five, recruit your partner and your family. Now if you have a partner and kids, they need to be committed to you and allow you to do whatever you need to accomplish your goals. And I have to thank my husband. Danny is everything that I’m not. You know, he understands the importance of why I do what I do. He never speaks, but he takes care of everything at the whole front. Without him, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do. So that way I can focusing on building a business for us, for our family. And my daughter Chelsea helps out with the office. She does all the processing work. And because of my family is my backbone.
I be able to go take the nos because I know at the end of the day I’m doing it for them. Right. So we are super excited. Our focus right now to continue to build new directs and lead by example for the team to follow within the next six months. We wanted to produce or develop at least two to three RVPs like us who want to meet, you know, who want to win more than anything. And I know that we have a few leaders that are looking to pop up. We super excited about them and just missing a few things. And I’ll go right now just to dominate and help each other in our personal, you know, example setting for them to follow. So, Wilma, Dom and the staff, thank you so much for putting this incredible event together.
There’s so much work that put into it. We appreciate everything and thank you, Keith and Danielle.
