Hey, first of all, I want to thank God for giving us this opportunity to be here today. And you know, it’s just a blessing every single day. I want to thank our uplines. You know, we joined at 22 years old as a college student, went to school for finance. And when I saw the orientation, it blew my mind that I had never seen the rule of 72. I was about to graduate a finance degree and what attracted me to the business was the opportunity to go build the business. I always hated having a boss, never liked it. They didn’t really like being told what to do. And Keith said, carlos, if you just, you know, latch on, it’s a two to four year game plan for you while you finish school, get full time and go become a regional vice president.
And that’s exactly what happened. We joined at 22 and by 26 were regional vice president, made six figures that year, while some of our friends were going to get their masters and all this stuff and being in debt for another thousand plus. And so Keith asked us today to talk about why Primerica is worth it. So we’re going to share a few things with you on that because I think as you’re sitting there, hopefully you’re gonna decide today that you truly are in an opportunity that can go change your life, but also change other people’s lives. You know, we have our great friends and also business partners, David and Joyce, which is amazing to see what they’ve done. You know, they make us look good. See, that’s the great thing about it.
You don’t have to always be the best, but you can go recruit someone that can become the best. And these guys are right now killing it. Number one, I think in one of the categories right there. So give them a shout. But see, all of you are sitting here right now and the facts are this, most people are going to face this. And you’re facing this either you’re trading time for money currently. See, if you have a job right now, you’re trading your time for money. Just enough money to get by. But at the same time, congratulate yourself that you’re here today because you’re looking for a way to make that change. And Keith always told me that. He goes, carlos, you need to work this like a job until it pays you like a business. And you heard that earlier today.
We all are going to have to do that for a period of time. See, you’re in. Income is capped wherever you are. You know, we have clients that make a ton of money, but they’re capped. They’re probably more talented than what they’re making, but they’re capped at that. You can allow that to happen, right? Limited control. See, that’s why I didn’t want to go corporate. A lot of my buddies went and worked for the Payne Webers and all that other crap. I never wanted to. And the reason was because when I interviewed with those companies, I asked them, when can I become a vice president and make six figures and have an opportunity for ownership? And the answer was always, never.
But when we talked and saw Keith Otto, Keith said, it’s a game plan for you to go become a vice president, go get ownership, build your own business. And then if you think about it, retirement is uncertain. People work 30, 40 years and then they’re not sure how they’re going to go live their retirement life. Is it going to be enough? Right. Our opportunity, though, think about it. You’ve heard from all the great people up here, earn beyond our efforts. It’s amazing. Now, for a period of time, you’re gonna have to work like a job. You’re gonna have to be the person that gets in early, does everything. For years we did that to eventually build a business that pays us, where we show up or not.
Now there’s a lot more work we have to do because we want to get to the next level, like the Costello’s and the Narrains and the Lee’s. So there’s still a lot of work, but it’s amazing what it could happen. And you got to build that team, keep those up from the beginning, build a team. And we’re thankful for our teammates because we built a team. It allows us to move out of New Jersey, go into Florida and still have an amazing lifestyle because of building a team. So if you’re sitting there saying, am I in a financial services company? No, you’re in an opportunity to go build a financial firm. Write that down. You’re in an opportunity to go build a financial firm within a firm. That’s the reality. It’s not just becoming an advisor.
Go become a financial firm owner, Create residual income. You know, Cardino talked about that. It’s crazy. We were looking at our compensation report the other day and our recurring compensation now. Last year we made a half a million bucks. 87% Of that income came in overrides bonuses and residual. Not where we want to be. We want to be at the million. But I think about it and say, man, I’m grateful.
Right?
And they talked about that today too. That 87% that comes in with or without us. 161,000 Comes from recurring compensation, which means work we did years ago or our team did years ago. And it continues to come and grows. In 2020, it was at 80. It’s doubled in six years. So our goal is to continue to work it. And the beautiful thing is, hey, start part time like we all did. Keith always said, hey, become a great part timer before you become full time. And you need to be full time, not fool time. Right. And how. Let me go back one. Can I go back? Yeah, you go. And so how do we get paid? Right. You need to build a business. At first it’s going to be personal production, which you saw.
And always there’s going to be an opportunity to go build personal. We still do personal, you know, this month or next month we’ll have a Trade hit for 4.3 million. And it’s crazy what that’s going to pay us because we did a birthday call, right. From a birthday call. It’s amazing. Overrides. Now those are the ones that I like because I like to get to the point where 100% of the income is overrides like Ray Costello. Right. Residual income. Right. We just talked about that. And then bonuses. But the flexibility, as you guys see, guys, if you’re sitting there, understand you can start this part time, but what’s a part time job? If you have a regular part time job outside of America, how many hours do you need to go work? 15, 20 Hours, easy.
Yet most people in our business want to do it part time, one to two hours and expect to get paid and build a business that way so it’s flexible with a sense of responsibility. Right. And why are we going to win here, guys? All of you have the opportunity to be in a great training system, great mentorship. No experience is needed. Most of the people you’ve heard speak up have no financial experience. My financial experience, I went to school for finance, yet never saw the Rule 72. I tell students all the time, why do you go to school for business and become an employee? Think about it. We go pay four years of college to go become employees. Yeah. If you go to school for law, you hopefully become a lawyer. If you go to school for business, become a business owner. Yeah.
In Primerica on a part time basis. We got our masters and became owners here. And I want to wrap up with this and then Sarah’s going to wrap up for us. But I was talking to Joe about this morning is if you don’t decide Today to have a little faith, a little belief and trust your uplines and go give this a real true shot. Work it like a job. Even if you were in a regular job and got paid high income, this client I’m talking to you about makes a half a million bucks a year in corporate America. But when I did his review, his Social Security is going to be 4,000amonth. I’m like, imagine you didn’t save. The guy has nine million bucks saved.
But I’m like, if he didn’t have that money saved, what are you going to do with 4,000amonth when you used to live in all 40? Imagine, Ray. I mean, I know Joe told me he looked at his Social Security because he’s going to cash in on it next year and it’s like a little bit over 4,000. Imagine that. Some of you have to realize if you’re not making a high income, it’s maybe 2,000. So are you gonna decide today to go work this and take it to the next level? I know we have to. So let me bring up Sarah. She’s gonna wrap up real quick. And if you do all this, it’s the life that you could live with the people you love.
Hey, guys. It’s truly an honor to be here with all of you today. Hon. You’re all people that we have grown up with, look up to. And we are forever grateful for every single person, especially up here in these tables, Keith and Danielle. Just everything that we have gained from this environment, I mean, it is completely. There’s, it’s priceless. There’s no, you know, there’s no price we can attach to that. What we’ve been able to learn for ourselves and apply for our lives, now we are extending that into our next generation, right, with our children. And I just want to be able to let you all know if you have people that you love, people you care about, you may have children, you may not. But my point is, I want you to understand that this opportunity can go so far beyond yourself.
This is why we need to break the barrier, step out of our comfort zone and know why there’s rejections and obstacles to overcome. Okay? Because anything built that is great has never been done on an easy road. And I tell people all the time, whether you work with us or you work anywhere else, you’re going to have to work hard. Have you understood that yet about life? You need to go work hard. So why not work at a place that’s going to reward you at the max? Level for that effort. And the great thing is that there’s no ceiling on that. You know, we’ve been able to. Okay, sorry. Here we go. I’m growing trigger happy, guys. Primerica. I just want to. I am so wholeheartedly, so grateful for this opportunity. It has allowed us to build an amazing life.
Not just for the amazing people that we’ve been able to cross paths in the business, but for the family that we have built. Okay. As you can see, you guys all know, right, we have four kids, and they keep us very busy. But I will trade nothing to be, you know, in the position I am right now, to be that soccer mom, to be that gymnastics mom, to be there for my kids, watching them grow up. My oldest is about to be a senior in high school. Next year, he’s going to graduate high school. I know a lot of you even knew before he was born, right? And now even my little one, she’s turning six, Gabby, with her gymnastics. And I just want to say thank you so much. I was just, you know, I was texting her before.
I’m like, everyone I see asks me about you. And she’s like, oh. She’s like, tell them I all said hello. And. And thank you for that. So, guys, I just want to be able to convey that we’ve been able to provide whatever they love, what their passions are, we want to feed into that, allow them to grow. We tell them all the time, primerica will always be here for you, but you’re not required to, you know, do what we do. Go follow your passions. That’s why we did this. That’s why we put in the hours and the time, the sweat and the tears and all that, to give them the opportunity to go follow their passion. If they come back around to the business, it will be here for them. You know, they can do whatever, go chase whatever they want.
They still have to go get their licenses, though. That is a requirement at 18 years old for all of them. But at this point in time, we let them know that, you know, we’ve been able to build this because of the business, because of the opportunity that has been placed before us. And, guys, it’s not just us. It is available for every single person here, whether you have children or other people that you love and care for.
