I just want you to know that about four or five days ago, I was able to talk to the founder of our company, and I talk to him fairly regularly, but we had a conversation, and I’m going to start it out like this.
The world we live in is kind of a topsy turbulence scenario right now.
I think I could get an amen on all that.
Correct.
There’s a lot of problems and issues in America that didn’t exist 40 years ago, 45, 47 years ago when a company started, 44 years ago when I joined the company.
And believing when I tell you this, I’m an average, ordinary guy, but I had an opportunity, and I almost missed it.
So this is probably the greatest opportunity in America for people like us.
I can’t be sure about that.
But I know it’s a heck of a lot better than I ever thought I would ever have.
And there’s a reason why you’re here today and not out doing something else that is pretty much meaningless.
This could be a big change in your life if you take it serious.
So Art and I had a conversation, and Art Williams had something happen disastrous in his family.
His wife, his mother.
His mother got a $10,000 death benefit because a scumbag, egg sucking dog whole life insurance companies sold her the wrong kind of insurance.
And his daddy passed away at age 48 and left three children and a wife and $10,000.
That’s reality.
How you doing? Ortiz? Listen, Art Williams changed the way people look at insurance in America.
And there’s hundreds of thousands and millions.
In fact, my hierarchy has affected hundreds of thousands of people, and for that, I am so grateful and so blessed.
And there’s a lot of people like the know, like the Lavins, there’s a whole bunch of people in here that have had the same unbelievable benefits.
But it didn’t come because we sat around and thought about it.
We made some decisions.
And I’m so blessed to have Johnny Lavin as a fellow that I was able to help learn this business.
And Johnny is as close to me as just about any of my family members.
Well, not my children, especially my son.
But you understand, Johnny, I mean, he tells me all the time I’m like a second dad to him.
John Lavin and I have a relationship.
We don’t have a friendship.
We have a relationship.
It’s not some stupid partnerships, pardon my French.
Partnerships suck.
Because most of the time, you think you’re doing more than a partner.
You need relationship.
Do you understand? Okay.
Now, is there anybody in here that is totally, completely satisfied with where you’re at in your stage of life right now? If so, stand up and do it damn quick.
Are you just standing up because somebody’s getting past you? Okay, that was a nobody, you understand? Nobody stood up.
So you all want more? I got news for you.
You have received the greatest gift already you’re ever going to receive.
It’s your life.
I want you to think about that for a second.
Your time on earth.
You don’t control it if you understand this.
And the older you get, the more you understand it.
Because the older you get, the faster the dead gum clock runs.
You understand? And I had a scenario come up a couple of days after January, and I’m not going to get into it, but I had anemic problem.
It wasn’t iron deficiency.
I had a blood drip.
And you men probably don’t understand this, but your hemoglobin is supposed to between 15 to 17, okay? If it goes to ten, you’re supposed to be in the hospital or emergency room.
Mine was 5.1.
They said I was 24 to 48 hours from cashing out.
Now, listen, the good Lord wasn’t ready for me yet.
Everybody in this room was put on this earth for a purpose.
You are not here to simply take up space and breathe.
We were put here to do something meaningful.
And working in a dead gum J-O-P is not going to change your life or your family’s life or most of the people around you when you have a job because it comes with a boss.
And I could tell you what that really stands for, but I’m going to keep it clean.
I’m not going to do that.
This is a company of leadership.
Do you understand this? And today art crusade.
In fact, Art and I were talking about this, and I want to read to you what Art said many years ago.
He said the reason that this company succeeded was because wasn’t the products, it wasn’t the timing, it wasn’t the training.
It was the people.
This is a people business.
You’re not into dead gum insurance business.
Get that out of your head.
You’re not in the investment business.
Get that out of your head.
You’re in the people business finding people that want to be somebody, to go make a difference, to help somebody else.
You’re on this earth to do a job, to fulfill your purpose.
And your purpose isn’t fiddle fart around.
Probably.
Pardon me for using that word.
At least I didn’t cuss.
All right, now listen.
Listen to me.
People like you and I I’m not a college graduate.
I fell off the ladder at age 19, and I had a little scholarship to pay ball.
I fell off a ladder 19ft, working at a supermarket.
Broke my neck in three places.
That’s not good.
That was not a good thing.
Crap happens to you in your life and you don’t control it.
But don’t you take for granted that you are not possible to do and succeed and help your family and change people’s lives because you’re in a place where it has been done for years and years and years by thousands and thousands and thousands of people, average ordinary people like me.
I’m telling you, get over yourself.
Make a decision to change.
Don’t go back and keep doing the same stuff you’ve been doing.
Make some commitments.
And David, I would like to say I’d like to set up some kind of, with your help, something in our office.
We got eight or ten people around there.
I like to put something together and talk to you guys.
And Johnny knows we had a very positive but a very competitive situation in our base shop.
Everybody was helping everybody because were part of a team.
This is not you can’t win in life by yourself.
You need help.
You need to understand.
You got to do something to help anybody else.
This is a chance, our opportunity to help people today.
And I talked to Art about this and I brought it up to him and he agreed with me a thousand percent.
Our opportunity, ed and Yvonne is stronger today than in any year we’ve ever been in this business.
The country has all kinds of problems.
If we can help more and more people get their financial situation in order, we will have done an unbelievable positive thing for them.
Don’t sit around and keep reading stupid books about how to do this and how to do that and motivational books and all that crap.
Get with the leaders in your office that know what the hell’s going on or get with somebody like Johnny Lavin or Lorraine Hinckley and a lot of the rest of the leaders around here.
Get with people that know what to do.
Listen, get off your duffs and go do something to change and help other people and do something that you’re proud of.
Listen, fear destroys most people and stops them in their tracks.
You are capable of doing everything that any of us did, but you’ve got to make some changes.
I just want to leave this with you and I’m going to leave on time.
That doesn’t happen often.
We are blessed people beyond belief.
Your gift of life was your first gift.
The opportunity that you have here is also this gift.
Get serious about it, don’t blow it.
Go win for all the people that deserve it, especially you and your families.
