Video Summary
Becoming The Game Master
Brenden Rivera introduces the concept of becoming the “Game Master” in Primerica.
If the event theme is “Get in the Game,” someone must understand the rules, the levels, and the system.
He emphasizes three foundations:
Faith and personal conviction
Study of the system
Obsession with numbers
He references key reads including The A.L. Williams Way and Real Leadership by John Addison, highlighting the importance of understanding Primerica’s history and leadership philosophy.
Qualification To Lead
Brenden explains that leaders must:
Know the system inside and out
Be the go-to problem solver
Track numbers daily
Maintain credibility through production
He proudly recognizes team members ranking in company contests and stresses that leaders must know their team’s statistics better than the team does.
Numbers are not optional.
They are leadership tools.
Level One – District Leaders And Below
Congratulations — the game has begun.

Go Full Time The Right Way
There is a difference between being full time and being “fool time.”
Busy does not equal productive.
Promote The Right Way
Fully licensed.

Qualify for stock.
He emphasizes the importance of earning company stock upon RVP promotion — ownership matters.
Level Three – Regional Vice President
Below RVP is practice mode.
RVP is the real game.
Decide What Type Of RVP You Will Be
Builder?
Securities-focused?
Recruiting-driven?
Clarity determines direction.
Focus On Promoting RVPs

Wow. What’s going on, primerica? You guys hear me? Can you guys hear me?
All right, cool.
What’s going on, guys? What’s going on? If you guys don’t know me, my name is Brendan Rivera. I am a hundred thousand dollar earner out of the Ortiz generations alliance hierarchy. The aviator hierarchy. Where’s my aviators? Oh, man. Listen, guys, I have the incredible pleasure, man. It’s always a blessing, guys. Like Yanae said, man, without our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ, right, I would not be here and especially without my team, man. Shout out to ATP, I love you guys so much. And shout out to my beautiful wife again. Without her, I’m nothing. Without a strong wife, there is no, man, I’m going to forget all the things, right? But guys, man, I have the pleasure, man, to talk about becoming the game master, right? What is the game master, guys, the title of the event is get in the game, right?
But you need someone to create the game. There’s got to be someone that knows the game so you can get in the game, right? So real quick, what are my qualifications to being the game master, guys, first of all, you got to follow the ultimate instruction manual, right? What’s the ultimate instruction manual, guys? That’s the Bible, right? Why do you have to second guess everything when you have this instruction manual in front of you? You just got to wake up and open the Bible, right, Assad? Right, guys, that’s the ultimate instruction manual. If you have any questions, if you have any doubts, open up a Bible, right? Whether you believe in God or not, right? You guys have to have something because there’s going to be something that’s bigger than you. That’s going to happen in this business, right?
You got to have a little bit of you guys. And also, I have studied, right? I have read coach, I have read the A. L. Williams way. I most recently read real leadership by John Addison. If you guys don’t know who John Addison was, he’s the CEO that took Primerica public right before Glenn Williams, right? Guys, that’s probably one of the best books that I’ve ever read. Because not only does it teach about leadership, but it also teaches what Primerica went through to go public, right? And if you don’t know that story, you guys gotta listen, you gotta read it, okay? And then also, I’m everyone’s coach, right? If you’re in the aviator hierarchy, you come to me majority of the time, right? You guys know this to ask questions, right? I’ve even been called by head coach Yvonne.
Hey, Brendan, real quick, what’s the code when you recruit someone with a life license? I’m like, coach, SNSD, right? What are you calling me for?
Right?
But she called me, man, and it’s always a pleasure. I pride myself on knowing the Primerica business. I pride myself on knowing the primerica system. Because as the game master, as an RVP in Primerica, your downlines are going to be looking for you. Looking to you as their parent, pretty much, right? And as our jobs. I have a one year old, right? He’s my everything at this point, right? He runs the house already. He’s one years old. As a parent, my son is looking to me like, dad, you are my leader. You are my coach. You need to tell me what to do.
Right?
And that’s what our downlines guys are looking for as coaches. They’re looking for a leader. They’re looking for someone to guide them, right? And I’m obsessed, right? I’m obsessed with the numbers. If you need to know where your business is at, I probably know where your business is at better than you know where your business is at.
Right?
Whether it’s my downlines, whether it’s my personal, right. I check our contest numbers every single day, right? I want to give a huge shout out to two individuals, because they’re on track right now for the Hawaii competition. Karina and Damien, go ahead and stand up for me real quick. Right? They’re number 45 or, no, they’re number 65 as of this morning, right? I checked it this morning. And shout out to Nelson Cotsas. Go ahead and stand up for me, bro. Right? He’s number ten, guys, this guy is an absolute champ. He came to the last tbls at 17 years old, right? Wasn’t even able to submit his IBA. The last one, the Andy onstead one, right? His first month license. Wrote over 12,000 in personal premium and double promoted to regional leader, his first month license.
Right?
So we’re excited for him.
All right?
So, guys, you got to be obsessed with the numbers, all right? And then next thing, you got to master the levels, right? See, there’s different levels in primerica. You have your districts and below. You have your divisions and regionals, and then you have your rvps and above, right? So let’s talk about level one, right? So congratulations. Where’s all my district leaders in below?
At?
Raise your hand if you don’t know. If that’s you, it’s probably you.
Okay? Right?
Congratulations. Your game has just begun. You had submitted your IBA. The game has just begun the first task, right? Because when you’re playing a video game, I used to be a gamer before Primerica. I can’t play any games anymore.
Right.
Task number one is you got to figure out your why. Like I said, there’s going to be something, whether it’s negative parents, negative spouses, negative this, negative that. There’s going to be something that’s negative. And without a big why, you’re going to get knocked down. It’s going to take you out just like that. I’ve seen it all before. I’ve seen spouses, right? I’ve seen parents. I’ve seen dead cats. I’ve seen everything, right? We all heard the dog ate my homework. That’s like excuses that people give you when they quit primerica. It’s like, oh, my gosh, what’s next, right? And so, guys, I used to have negative parents. I used to have to wake up at 05:00 in the morning so I could avoid my parents waking up and telling me something negative about primerica, right?
And then I wouldn’t come home until 1112 o’clock at night because I was trying to wait for them to go to bed so I didn’t have to hear anything about negative about primerica. Why? Because I was trying to avoid all negativity. I love my parents. They have great intentions for me. But like Eduard always says, they didn’t have the right direction for me. You guys with me on that. So sometimes your people have the best intentions but not the best direction for you. Task number two, you got to latch on to your coach, right? My head coaches, the Toga family, the Ortiz family, they’re my best friends.
Right.
They’re my best friends. They’re the older brothers I never asked for.
Right.
I say that all the time because they hold me more accountable than anybody outside of my wife.
Right.
So you got to latch on to your coach, especially when you’re brand new in the business because like I said, your coach is your parent, right. When you have a newborn baby, when you’re a dad, the first thing you’re supposed to do is have that skin to skin contact. That’s when you recruit someone, right. Whether you’re a guy or a girl doesn’t matter, right. But you need to have that skin to skin contact when you recruit someone brand new.
Right.
And when you’re a brand new recruit or a district leader, you need to always be skin to your RVP or your head coach. You need to talk to them every single day because they’re going to be the loudest voice in your head when something negative comes, you need to reach out to them. Don’t go to your downlines.
Right.
You’re self sabotaging your business at that point. Number three is you gotta master the seven fundamentals. I’m gonna let Joe talk about that today because I’m excited for him to go in on all of us on this.
Right.
But you gotta master the seven fundamentals. And number right, this is big, is you got to set the expectation for your team. Go get a big bonus.
Right?
Tom Brady won the Super bowl with the Bucks.
Right.
And he ended know, the only thing that changed between him and Jameis was the expectation. The expectation was that he was going to win a Super bowl when he got here.
Right.
When we had Jameis, we didn’t have that expectation. The expectation was, maybe we’ll make the playoff.
Right.
That’s the only thing that changes the same players. All right, so level two, right. Level two is your division and regional leaders. Where’s all my division and regionals at?
All? Right.
I’m going to go in on you guys a little bit because you guys are a little bit more seasoned.
Okay.
See, level two is congratulations. You made it past level one, but the job’s not done.
Right.
Like the late, great Kobe Bryant said when the Lakers were up 20 in the NBA Finals.
Right.
Someone was asking, why are you not excited? Said, the job’s not done yet. What’s there to be excited about? I think a lot of people get to regional or division leader, and they’re so excited, but the job’s not done. You can’t be excited yet. You got to keep going.
Right.
Task number one as a divisional regional leader is you got a game plan with your RVP, a window RVP.
Right?
What do you need to do? What are the numbers? What do I need to do? 20 by 2030. By 30.
Right.
What are your guidelines? If you don’t know your guidelines, guys, you’re not going to go RVP. It’s that simple. I have a lot of people, we have a lot of people in the organization that are right there, and they’re like, coach, what do I need to go RVP? That’s your first mistake.
Right?
You got to know what you need to go to be RVP.
Right.
You should have had that already planned out.
Right.
You shouldn’t be a senior regional leader trying to figure out what to do. It’s too late. You need to know right away.
Okay.
Task number two is you got to fall in love with self developing. What are you reading? What are you listening to?
All right.
I ask my team that all the time. Hey, guys, what are you reading? The first book in Primerica, I believe you should read is coach, right? And then anything about leadership. John Maxwell, leadership books 100% should read, right? Because this is what Primerica is about, is leaders that develop leaders, right? So if you struggle in something in Primerica, it’s more than likely your leadership. That’s what most people don’t come into the business with. So you need to develop that leadership Quality. Number three is you gotta. Must become obsessed with your team numbers. Okay? It’s a business. You’re becoming a business owner. So if you’re not obsessed with your team numbers, guys, you need to become obsessed with it. You need to know exactly where they’re at, whether it’s the contest, cash, or anything else like that. And task number four is become self sufficient.
I have to give a huge shout out to Eric and know when they first had Roman, the biggest question that Eric. I would always ask Eric a question, and the biggest thing he would say is, hey, that’s a great question. Call poo and let me know what it is. He knew the answer, right? He knew the answer, but he wanted to make me self sufficient. Because when I become an RVP, I had to know what I was doing.
Right.
Number five is go full time. Are you full time or are you full time? There’s a huge difference. See, there’s a lot of regional leaders or division leaders in this business that are full time. Fool time. They’re at the office, but they’re not productive. They’re very busy, but they’re not doing anything right. How many presentations have you done today?
Right?
And number six is you got to get promoted to RVP the right way. What’s the right way? Fully licensed.
Right?
Strong replacement, and you get the stock. See, guys, I don’t understand how you can get promoted in Primerica and not qualify for the stock they’re giving to you. $15,000 of Primerica stock.
Right.
And level three, because I got to hurry up, right. Dave, you may have to tackle me off the stage. It’s the last one. We’re good.
Right?
So congratulations, guys. You have completed practice mode. See, guys, below. RVP is not Primerica game. It’s practice mode.
Right.
You’re practicing how to become a vice president.
Right.
Task number one, as an RVP, is you need to figure out what kind of RVP do you want to be? Do you want to be a builder? Do you want to do securities. Do you want to recruit? What do you want to do? You got to figure it out. Okay. You have to make that decision right away. And task number two, guys, the whole reason why we’re here is to promote rvps. There’s nothing else as an RVP that you need to focus on other than when am I promoting an RVP? And task number three is you have to achieve financial independence.
Right?
Again, what are we here for? Joe Ward talked about it. What are you here for?
Right?
For me and my family. I want my son to look at me one day and say, dad, I’m proud of you. That’s the most important thing to me other than making sure that I live the right way and my character stands high.
Okay?
So I want to close it with this. I want to give a huge shout out to David and Don, man, I’ve been in this business for six years and without this event, I would not have the business that we have today. So we’re super thankful for you guys. And again, I want to thank my incredible uplines, the Ortiz family. I want to thank Eduard and Gabby. We were their replacements when Eduard went regional vice president. I want to thank you guys as well. And, guys, I’m going to do something to close it out, okay?
Right?
Just to close it out, I’m going to say hard work and you guys are going to say, there we go.
Right?
So I’m going to say hard work. You say, all right, hard work. Hard work. Hard work. Thank you, guys.
