Video Summary
Doris Chaou shares practical principles for building and leading your own business through discipline and structure. She explains that unlike a traditional job, no one clocks you in or out. As your own boss, discipline becomes nonnegotiable. Having a schedule creates focus and allows you to stay organized, even if you do not follow it perfectly every day.
She emphasizes setting a daily intention to close at least one piece of business. While results may vary, maintaining that focus increases consistency and income. She highlights the importance of Income Producing Activities (IPAs), such as recruiting, field training, conducting appointments, and helping families. Every action should connect directly to generating results.
Accountability is another cornerstone. Communicating daily with uplines and teammates strengthens performance. When you hold yourself accountable to leadership, you are more likely to follow through on commitments. Success leaves clues, and consistent communication accelerates growth.
Doris outlines the proper business order: recruit to build distribution and leverage, protect families with life insurance, help them invest, and complete Financial Needs Analyses (FNAs) to guide families from where they are to financial independence. She also stresses full licensing to expand earning capacity.
Finally, she underscores personal development. Daily mental growth through reading and audio, physical exercise for focus, and practicing what you teach are essential. The person you become in five years depends on your habits, relationships, investments, and discipline today. Her message is simple: lead yourself first, eliminate excuses, and build with intention.

So Keith want us to share in regards to how we build our business. Regards to growing and there are a few things that I wanted to go over. I actually want to put my timer. Okay, so Watley already covered a couple of things and I know Bernard cover a couple of things and I wanted to share with you guys regards to some of the things that we’ve been doing. You know, just growing the team and helping, you know, ourselves to be able to be accountable to Keith and build a hierarchy. So one of the most important thing is everything that we do, there has to be some kind of structure, right? So building a business, there’s no difference. So have a schedule, right? Have the schedule is not for us to clock in or clock out, right?
Your boss actually does that for you at your job. But here you are your boss. So you need to be disciplined in order for you to build the business. Because if you’re just running all day without a set schedule, not that you’re going to be able to stick to it 100%, but having something to follow and kind of you off track, you get back on track. Now it allows us to have a routine and be organized and to do whatever we need to do for the day, right? It gives us focus. So for us there’s no off time. You know, for those you see Watley’s schedule, I don’t wake up 4:00 by the way, but there’s no off time. Whenever the team needs you, whatever you need to do whatever it takes to get the job done to build your business, right?
This is not a job, but you need to work like one. So that way one day you can own a business. Second thing is have the intention every day. And I’ll cover a couple things here, close one by one per day. I remember listening to a leader and Taji, I believe that he said we’re focusing on closing one by one a day or one by two a day, right? And that has to be the focus. Not that you are doing it every day, but if you have the focus, you will hit. But if you don’t have a focus, you would never, you know, you would never hit it, right? A check a day. A check a day is what the focus is. Whatever that you do.
If you have the license to be able to pay yourself and get paid daily, why wouldn’t you, right? Because the company prints checks when you submit business. Now third is income producing activities, which is ipa. IPA is something that if you be able to focusing on what area, the key is you’re gonna Focusing on everything that you do that produce you income, right? Field training, recruiting, going out with the family and helping them. And these are IPAs. Third is communicate with your leaders daily. And I’m glad that Watley shared with you guys because he probably texts me 10, 20 times a day now.
So he texts me more than my husband and it’s one of the things that you see and I love what Keith always say, success leaves clues and he’s been doing what he needs to do and it’s so incredible to watch that. Communicate daily Leaders, teammates uplines right? Be accountable. One of the most important abilities. Thanks Lou, great seeing you here. One of the most important abilities is accountability, right? When you hold yourself accountable to your upline, you’re going to do what you need to do. You might not do it for anyone else, you might, you know, but if you not accountable to yourself, you won’t expect yourself to do what you need to do. So being accountable to your upline is one of the most crucial things. Be a crusader, do what’s right 100% at the time.
Now build it in order with importance, right? Recruit to build distribution and leverage to give your financial freedom. Life insurance to protect families. So these are the things that we do on an everyday basis, right? Investment to help families accumulate wealth and be financially independent. Now do fnas. We do FNAS because that’s the only way that we know how to help someone from A to B from their start where they at to give them financial freedom. So it’s a financial GPS for your clients. Buy term and invest the difference, number one, focus. Gotta get fully licensed. And we took a long time to get our investment license. So that’s the behind of the story. And by the way, I forgot to mention my background. I just remember.
So we are customer service working used to work at a property casualty agency and were recruited by Dean Aloya. I just spotted Dean as I remember. So Dean Aloya is in the back. Welcome to Florida, Dean. So he recruited us to the business. We used to work for Dean and so we appreciate him allowing us to be able to see the opportunity and was not selfish at all. He was selfless to allow us to give us the opportunity. And. And the third is make sure you and your family have a plan to be financially independent. Practice what you preach. So if you’re not saving money yourself, if you’re not protected yourself, how are we able to share and teach other families, right? Self improve daily.
This is probably one of the things that most important to set your day to grow yourself now, self improvement, mentally, that means you read, you listen to audios, videos where you grow your mental toughness, leadership skills. Obviously, when you start having people, building a team, that’s crucial. People skill and business fundamentals. So this is mentally that we need to constantly do that every single day physically set aside. I know that this is probably not everybody does, but we realize how important it is for our mind to be focused. And having that 20, 30 minutes set aside every day to help us get in shape, to get our mind physically to be able to think right is so important to basically just go and conquer your day. Without those, you know, movement in our body, our brain doesn’t know how to focus.
So that’s very important. And last thing I’m going to leave with you with this. The people you will be in five years depends on the books you read, depends on the food you eat, the habits you built, the friends you meet, the workouts you do, the money you invest, the sacrifice you make. So act accordingly because your future self is watching. Thank you guys. Appreciate the opportunity. See you at the top.
