Primerica Leadership: Proof Starts With Your Own Pen – Eduar and Gabriela Fernandez

Video Summary

00:00
So what I really want to talk to you guys about today is leadership through personal example. You know, and I feel like this is the biggest separator when it comes to being in business and working in corporate America. Because when you guys work in corporate America, you know, we have, you know, we have those managers, those supervisors, right? And what do they do? They only tell us what to do, but they never, you know, they never join in and they never lead by example, right? So, so in this business, you want to make sure that you’re literally leading and showing your team what to do. And that starts with being a personal producer. You guys want to make sure that you guys are always writing at least 10,000 in personal premium.

00:40
You want to show your team that you get to pay your bills with your personal pin and that you guys can actually make money here. You guys want to make sure that you’re able to show your team how to become a full timer. And that starts with writing 10k personal minimum and not taking things personal, especially when it comes to new people. I know we come from, you know, like I said, corporate America, right? Where there’s not a lot of people who want to show you how to get to where they’re at, right? So when we come here, people, they’re like, you want to help me? You know, like, because we tell them, like, hey, this is what you got to do to get to your next promotion. Like, hey, I want to help you. Hey, I want to pour into you.

01:16
Hey, I want to show you how to, you know, change your whole family tree. But they’re not used to that, right? So when you’re pouring into them and you’re telling them things, you know, on how to get better, sometimes people take it personal. But if you guys are brand new here in the business, if you guys are here, you know, thinking about getting into this business, right? Maybe you guys haven’t submitted your IBA yet. You guys are gonna, you know, you guys are gonna hear some things that you don’t wanna hear. But if you guys really listen to your, the person that brought you in this business, they’re telling you things that they’re going to change your life and they’re going to impact your Life. And recruiting five to 10 directs monthly, that’s minimum, you guys, five directs minimum.

01:55
Especially with today and technology and all the social media, there’s no reason why you guys should only be recruiting one direct a month. Like if you are, you have to take a look in the mirror and be like, what am I really doing? With this, we have Instagram, we have TikTok, we have Facebook, we have so many things, right? And you could go out and talk to people in person. So if you guys are not recruiting, if you guys are not really working in your business, there’s no. That’s not the business’s fault. It’s your fault. You’re not doing the things necessary to grow your business, right? And personally promoting district leaders.

02:29
If you guys have been in this business for a while and maybe your business is dry and you’re not, you know, you’re not, you know, running a big bay shop and you’re kind of wondering like, man, what’s going on? It’s probably because you’re not promoting personal district leaders. When you guys hire somebody and they’re excited and they have like a big list, right? They’re putting you on appointments, the business becomes a lot more fun, right? You’re starting to go on back and back appointments. You’re promoting people, right? So you guys always want to make sure that you guys are promoting new district leaders. And if you are doing that, naturally, you’re going to be doing over five appointments a day, okay? And another thing, before I got with Eduard, I used to do the business in California with my family.

03:19
So you don’t have to be with a partner to really do this business big. You guys know Eduard, he does his business really big. Before me and him got together. But when we got together, you know, we had. It was an explosion, right? Before I got with Eduard, I also wasn’t a mom, but now I’m an entrepreneur. So where is my mom’s? In the house. Awesome. You know, when it comes to being a mom, you have to have a no excuse mentality. Before I had my daughter, when I was pregnant with my son, me and Edward would always show up to the office early every single time. We were always the first ones there and we would always be the last ones leaving the office.

03:58
We would be closing up the office when I was all the way up till I was nine months pregnant. When I got pregnant with my daughter, things were a little bit different, right? Edward was still showing up to the office, you know, the first one there leaving late. But when I was due to give birth, I was at the office until the very last second. I was scheduled to get induced at 10pm I didn’t leave the office until 10:20pm okay? Because we had training that Tuesday. You have to be sold out, right? And keeping your why right in front of you guys, front and center. You guys have to Be willing to do whatever it takes.

04:34
Because if you don’t do whatever it takes, your family and everybody else who you were supposed to recruit in the family, they’re not going to be blessed with this amazing opportunity. So by you not doing what you need to do, you’re actually hurting other people. It’s not just you. And you guys also have to become the best recruit in order for you to start attracting the right recruits. So maybe you guys are recruiting people right now. Maybe they’re not in the right market. Maybe they don’t have the best quality people. You have to take a look at yourself and tell yourself like, well, what am I doing to attract better people? Am I reading books? Am I self developing? And if you’re not, you could do that.

05:16
And little by little, you’re gonna start manifesting and attracting the right type of people into your business. Okay? And then also for my partners here, right, There is a very big difference between being a business partner versus just a partner, okay? And this doesn’t mean that you have to be husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, whatever partnership you’re in, right? Okay? So a real business partner, you get your life license. That’s like the bare minimum, okay? Second, you’re also active on the field. You guys are field training, you guys are prospecting. You guys are looking for recruits. You’re promoting district leaders, division leaders, regional leaders. You add onto the team, you don’t take away. You don’t overstep boundaries. Your partner, your business partner should understand the mission. It shouldn’t just be you.

06:09
And it’s really not fun when you’re the only person in the business and your partner’s not really sold out to the business, you know, or they’re just a supportive partner because it’s kind of like they don’t really understand the drive, the motive. They don’t really understand what’s going on. Right? It’s double the effort. You know, Eduardo’s appointments, I do appointments. He trains his own people. I train my own people. That’s how you do more, right? And you have greater credibility when you do the business with a partner. It could be your husband, your wife, you know, your. Your brother, your sister, your friend, whatever it is. You guys have greater credibility. And each of you will bring different strengths and then the recognition. Doing the business together with your partner. It’s so much better when you guys do it together.

06:49
Because when you guys win company trips, you guys win awards, you guys hit new milestones, you know, you contributed to that. When I got with Edward, he Told me like, hey, you don’t have to worry, you know, you could just stay at home, you know, da, da. I looked at him like, I’m already used to recruiting, being out in the field, like, what am I gonna do at home? Mind you, there is a lot of stuff to do at home, but I. I’d rather not, you know. And when I got with him, he was at 200,000 income, you know, and my biggest thing, when I told him, I was like, I don’t want to just be your arm candy, you know, I want to help you build in this business. So when we got together, weren’t even together a year, and we jumped to.

07:23
He was at 200,000 and we jumped three diamonds. We got to half a million, you know, and when we got together, I was a regional leader. I didn’t have my ring. He was at 200,000. And every. Everybody was telling him, like, you should get her the ring. And I told him, I do not want you to get me the ring. When we hit ownership, then you could get me the ring, because then I feel like I earned it. And that’s exactly what we did. And same thing at half a million. You want to make sure that you set goals and you actually pay them out, right? I told him, I really want a matte black G wagon. So he’s like, okay, when we get to half a million, I’ll get you that.

07:59
And that’s my car right now, you know, so if you guys are in business together, you guys have to take a look at this. If you guys are just. If you’re really doing this business and maybe one partner is not putting their the most effort, just take a look in the mirror and be like, you know what? Maybe I’m just being a partner right now. Let me do what I need to do to become a business partner, right? And if you’re just doing this business by yourself, I’m going to end with this. If you’re just doing this business by yourself, look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself, am I being an example or the warning to the business and to your family?

08:34
And if you’re the morning, you could do things to change it to be the example that you want to your family. Okay, so that’s my time.
