Video Summary

Mike Kash opens by sharing his background as a former CPA who became energized by the opportunity inside Primerica. He challenges the audience with a fundamental question: what is the point of being alive if you do not attempt something remarkable?

He introduces five steps to doing something great. First, he stresses the importance of believing in untapped potential. Using the story of Seabiscuit, he explains how people can be trained to think small, but with the right environment and leadership, they can become champions. Many individuals, he says, are waiting to be discovered and developed.

Second, he emphasizes that great moments are born from great opportunity. Referencing Herb Brooks and the “Miracle” team, he reminds the audience that economic challenges create recruiting opportunity. When industries struggle and people feel financial pressure, the need for financial education and protection increases.

Third, he teaches that personal responsibility outweighs external circumstances. Regardless of politics or economic conditions, 90% of a person’s life outcome is determined by their own actions. Yesterday does not have to equal tomorrow. He illustrates this with a personal story about someone who initially saw heartbreak as tragedy, only to later see it as the best thing that ever happened.

Fourth, Kash emphasizes leadership and example. He challenges each person to ask: if everyone on your team acted like you, what kind of team would it be? Leaders must show up on time, stay positive, improve daily, and model productivity.

Fifth, he highlights mental toughness. Using the example of Muhammad Ali against George Foreman, he explains that champions expect to take hits. Adversity strengthens those who endure it. Like a boxer, success requires standing firm under pressure.

He closes by urging everyone to “finish the story.” Every failure, setback, and hardship carries the seed of an equal or greater benefit. The key is to persist long enough to see it unfold. The goal is not simply to survive life, but to make a difference and become the best version of yourself while helping others do the same.

Let me talk about five steps to doing something great in Primerica, right? And let me, just, before I get started, let everybody know. I was a CPA before I came into Primerica. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it, but I got. When I saw Primerica and I got in, man, I got jacked up. And I heard Grace talking about earlier about tax deductions and everything. This was usually the best time for me right after tax season. So I’m just excited to be here, and I’m excited that it’s after tax season. So five steps to doing something great. What is the point of being alive if you don’t at least try to do something remarkable? Listen, we’re not on this Earth to just come in here, get a job we don’t like, pay some bills, and die. We’re here to do something great, right?

00:48
And I know Napoleon Hill in one of his books said, you know, there is something deep inside of you that if you tap into it, you. You can take your life to levels that are so far beyond what you can achieve. Believe you can achieve. Right now, one of my favorite movies was Seabiscuit, and if you didn’t see the movie, I’ll give you a little summary. I love that movie. That horse was trained to be a loser when he was born. He was bred to be a winner, but the trainers thought he was a loser, and they trained him to lose. And one day he went like, oh, for his first 15 races. And. And the trainer, every time they had him running around the track during training, would tell the jockey that was driving him at the very end, pull him back.

01:29
We want to build the other horse’s confidence, right? So they didn’t think it was ever going to amount to anything. One day he’s at the track, and this other trainer is there, and he just sees him, and he goes, man, that horse has a glint in his eye. And he ends up buying. He gets the owner to buy that horse. That horse goes on to be the number one earning horse of all time up to that point. Here’s the point. If he doesn’t get picked up by that other trainer, he goes to his death a loser, right? And I can tell you there are so many people out there right now that we got to recruit. There are people in this room that if you tap into what deep inside, you can do something absolutely remarkable, and you want to set yourself up.

02:09
Great moments are born from great opportunity. That was Herb Brooks. He led the U.S. Hockey team. You saw the movie Miracle, right? This is a Great opportunity right now. Realtors are getting crushed. Mortgage brokers are getting crushed. People are getting laid off. Prices are going through the roof. People need Primerica more than ever. We should be recruiting the world right now. All right. Those who don’t have a cause they are willing to die for are not fit to live right now. I’m not going to tell you I’m willing to die for Primerica. But I will tell you this. Anybody who doesn’t have a dream that they’re willing to fight for is not fit to live. Right? You want to think big. If it isn’t impossible to do, then it isn’t even worth trying. Why not do something great, right?

03:06
What do you want to accomplish every day? You should get up, excited. I have never been more excited in my life. Going out and helping people. You know, I think back whenever I get a little down. And you hear all the great ones today talking about the ups and downs. Whenever I get down, I think about all the lives I’ve changed. I think about all the people that I brought into this company that went on to make extra money. All the people that all the death claims. I paid. Paid a million dollars to some family last year. 400,000 to a family last year. Right? I think about. I’ve helped people, kids buy their first cars through their utmas. I’ve helped people buy their first homes ever through helping them save for it. I’ve helped people get to retirement.

03:44
I’ve helped people have peace of mind in retirement. Right? I just. I’ve helped people set up emergency funds who then needed them. Right? I could tell you, I recently I had a client of mine who had a stroke. I sold her long term care like 15 years ago. She’s using it now. Every day that you get up, you have a chance to walk into someone’s life and. And change their life. Right? Our efforts and thoughts are the biggest influence in our lives. I see so much between the politicians going back and forth. And you know what? Probably in this room it’s half. Half. Half of my. Half of my clients are one way and half of my clients are the other. But you know What? I know 90% of the influence on your life is what you do, not what they do.

04:25
We’re in control of our own future, right? Yesterday becomes tomorrow unless we do something different today. The past does not have to equal the future. And you know what people say to me all the time? You can’t change the future. I’m telling you can. And I’ll give you a perfect example you can’t change what actually happened, but you could change how you perceive it. When I was in college, I had a guy, a suitemate across the hall, and this girl broke up with him. And he’s sitting in the hall, I mean, sitting in his room listening to love songs. He’s all depressed. He’s like, oh, this is the worst thing that ever happened. This was the one for me, right? Well, you know, I lost touch with him.

05:03
Next year, I’m walking across campus in the middle of the year and I see him and I’m like, kyle, what’s going. Oh, this is the greatest. Everything is going great. I’m like, what happened? He goes, I met this girl. She’s the greatest thing that ever happened to me, right? And I’m thinking to myself, what happened to that girl that you broke up with, that broke up with you? That was the worst. That was the best thing that ever happened to me. I never would have met this woman if that never happened, right? When I was broke, it forced me to go out and do things and push and go crazy. And I pulled myself out of it and I got out of it. And I look at it now and I see that was the. When I was going through it was depressing.

05:37
But now when I look back, it was the greatest thing that ever happened to me because it pushed me to go forward and go out and prospect and do what I needed to do, right? And I’m just going to leave it with these three words. Whatever you’re going through, finish the story. You will look back on it and say, man, that was the best thing that ever happened to me. Can you go to the next slide? We control our future. If it is to be, it’s up to me. And you got to lead your team. What kind of team would my team be if everybody on it were just like me? I ask that question all the time. Are you. Did you show up on time today? Are you positive? Are you taking notes? Are you getting better? Are you productive?

06:15
Are you self improving? If you’re not doing it, you can’t recruit other people to do what you’re not willing to do. You just go to the. The bigger the goal or dream, the more mentally tough you gotta be, right? The easy way is not the way. No pain, no gain. You know, everybody wants an easy life. Take your arm, you put your arm in a sling. Oh, give it an easy life. Yeah, don’t give it any pressure. The other arm. You’re doing curls, you’re doing curls. What’s going to Better down the road. The wrong that you strengthen when you go out after your goals and you hit adversity, you get better, right? And then you strive and you get. And you end up getting a lot further than you would if you could go to the next slide. Please.

06:52
A boxer does not become a champion unless they take the hits. You’re gonna, you know, you’re gonna come out here all excited, right? And then you’re gonna get darkhoused or dog zoomed or somebody’s gonna quit, right? But a champion does not go into the ring thinking they’re never gonna take a hit. They know they’re gonna get pounded over and again. But you gotta stand there. Like Muhammad Ali did against George Foreman when he became the champion again and Foreman was whaling away on armies. Is that all you got, George? Is that. Is that all you got? Give me some more, George. Keep punching me. Go ahead. And Foreman punched himself out, and Ali became a champion. And that’s what happens in life. Every adversity, every failure, every heartache has the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit.

07:31
Our job is to find that seed, sow it and reap it. And if you could go to the last slide, it’s worth it, man. I’m just telling you, it is so worth it. You don’t want to get to the end of your life and look back and just say, I survived. You want to say, you made a difference. And through many hours of deep thinking and meditation, I’ve come to this conclusion. God has us here for two reasons. To become the best version of ourselves and help as many people through becoming the best version of ourselves. And Primerica, as I talked about earlier, gives you the chance to do that.

08:03
Vince Lombardi said, I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and. And was exhausted on the field of battle victorious. We all have an opportunity to change tons of people’s lives, to make a difference. We just got to go out there and do it. And if you go to the last slide, I’m proud to be your teammate. It’s time to go change the world.
