Video Summary

In Commitment Is The Line Between Winners And Quitters, Charlemont and Marlene Genestin deliver a high-energy and deeply personal message designed specifically for Primerica representatives who want to elevate their production, leadership, and long-term results.

Charlemont shares his journey from recruiting just three people in a year to eventually building a large, productive hierarchy. His story emphasizes that success in Primerica does not happen overnight. Growth is incremental. Progress from three recruits to eight, from eight to twenty, and eventually to thousands, is the result of consistent effort compounded over time. The message is clear: long-term growth in recruiting and licensing begins with daily activity, not occasional bursts of effort.

A major theme of the training is excitement. According to Charlemont, 90% of winning in Primerica is maintaining excitement. Excitement is contagious. It attracts prospects, builds team morale, and fuels personal drive. Without excitement, production slows and recruiting suffers. Importantly, excitement does not require money or external success. It is a decision. When excitement fades, decline begins.

The second core principle is belief. Every rep battles internal voices of doubt. Charlemont explains that one voice will remind you of your limitations, background, or current results, while another voice encourages possibility and growth. The voice that wins is the one you feed. Success requires intentionally strengthening belief daily. Before becoming an RVP, you must believe you can become one. You must think like a vice president, speak like a leader, and carry yourself with confidence before the promotion ever happens.

The third and most critical principle is commitment. Commitment is the dividing line between winners and quitters. Many people say they are committed, but their actions reveal otherwise. Commitment shows up in daily meetings, consistent recruiting activity, punctuality, and discipline. Those who are serious show up repeatedly, even when it is inconvenient. Excuses destroy momentum. Commitment builds credibility and leadership.

Charlemont also addresses comparison. Comparing yourself to top earners or high-performing leaders can damage confidence if you do not understand their years of work behind the scenes. Everyone starts at square one. Instead of comparing, focus on personal growth and consistent improvement.

Another powerful message in the session is ownership. No one is holding you back. Circumstances, background, language, or environment are not permanent limitations. What holds people back is their internal decision to accept less than their potential. When you decide that your current situation is temporary and not your final destination, your activity level changes.

Ultimately, this training reinforces that Primerica offers equal opportunity for those willing to commit. Success is available to anyone who maintains excitement, strengthens belief, and commits fully to the process. Winners stay committed through challenges. Quitters allow discomfort to dictate their decisions.

So I’m excited to be here this morning. Teammates again. So I was listening to Savvy. Is that excited? Teammate? You know, this is a special time for us right now. Last year, so most of you probably don’t know about it. This is superstars hierarchy. First time ever, recalls over 12,000 recruits. Let’s put your hand together for these people here, okay?

00:22

12,000 recruits. Last year, first time we closed about.

00:26

1.5, you know, about 1,500 licensed agents in the hierarchy. You know, it’s amazing. Listen, listen. $9 million of life insurance. Timothy, listen, you’re looking at a guy in 1996. Dev Irish. I recruit three people for the whole year.

00:49

1996.

00:50

I equate only three people that said shaman.

00:52

We could, we could. I said, I’m trying. I said, no, trying is not enough. Coach, you know, you gotta go out there with good people.

00:59

I said, yes, no problem.

01:01

Next year I come back, I equip eight some progress from three to eight. You’re not excited? You better. Hey, guess what? That’s a shaman, man. You need to do more. I said, I’m trying.

01:15

Guess What?

01:16

Next year three is that I’m doing.

01:18

20 requests for the year.

01:20

Man, that feels good. Yes or no? From 3 to 20. It feels good.

01:25

But I see nothing’s happened.

01:29

For some of you, right now you are in 1996. You go to the three people and say, where are my people? You don’t have people yet. You guys with me, you will have people, yes or no. But right now you don’t have people. I love what Eric did.

01:50

Like, you know, 100 recruits, you know, he break it down. He said, this guy is a technical. I’m not that technical. I know if I put 100 people in the oven. Somebody’s coming out.

02:00

Is that right? I don’t know who’s coming out, but.

02:02

It knows exactly who’s coming out, who’s not coming out, it doesn’t matter. Just put a hundred in.

02:08

You guys with me, we can put 100 in 30 days. You can put 100 in 10 years.

02:15

But let me tell you a difference.

02:16

10 years, you put 100, nothing’s coming out. See, you know, I mean, like, you know, you see people doing very well. Like, you know, people making X amount of money.

02:27

If you’re not mist. Listen, if you’re not paying attention, you can miss it.

02:32

Because when I joined this business, I was so excited, pumped up like everybody else. I want to win. So every time I come to the big event like this and things not working for me right away.

02:41

I get more pissed off when I.

02:42

Get back home because when I started doing, I was starting like, you know, compare myself to speakers doing very well. Been working on themselves for the longest.

02:51

I didn’t know and I tried to.

02:54

Copy them and I said, I want.

02:55

To be just like that person. Don’t do that to yourself. Do not do that to yourself. It’s a step by step business.

03:09

We’re excited because we could have about.

03:10

12,000 people last year.

03:12

But that doesn’t happen in January 2021, 5, 12,000 of recruits that did not start for me in January 2025. That was started way back then. Take us up to this level.

03:32

You guys with me?

03:35

Because the worst thing can happen to you right now if you start beating yourself, you hate yourself, you don’t like yourself anymore because you see ad organization make a million, you hit a young guy. You probably think, Olivia just started business.

03:46

Because you speak so well. Corre you say, man, he’s making a million dollars.

03:51

Man, look at me. You’re good.

03:54

You just need to work a little bit more on yourself. You guys with me? You guys with me?

04:01

I’m telling the truth. Because you see someone right now, you don’t understand. You know, back then I’m telling you. So every time I come to the.

04:09

Meeting like this, when I’m finished, you know, I start looking at myself the wrong way. Start like, you know, worried about myself. I thought really something was wrong with me. Okay? This business is challenged for some people. For some people it’s easy. But for some people like me, for America is not an easy business for me. Okay, I’m telling the truth right now. But this is what keep me going. No, seriously, this is what keep me going. When I came in this business in 1996 and then I got involved in the business, I asked a lot of questions. I said, listen, tell me what I need to do to win it. What can stop me winning here? I never forget the Guy said, Sharma, 90% of winning in paramedica is excitement. I said, jess, excited? He said, be excited every day.

05:00

I said, excited about what? He said, I don’t care. Excited about everything.

05:05

No, no, seriously, this is what I found out.

05:07

This is what I found out. Most people are not excited. When you are not excited, you are a problem.

05:17

Being broke is not a problem. Because if you broke it with our.

05:21

Money, can you fix it? But if you’re not excited person, you have a big problem. You know the fun part you don’t have to have money to be excited. Can you guys be a little bit more excited?

05:34

This is what I see. This is what I see.

05:36

I see you guys sit down like this. Shaman. I’m cool. You’re not. You cannot be cool and work.

05:41

You work and cool at the same time. This thing doesn’t work. So I. No, seriously, seriously. If you work. Listen, you better be excited. Yes or no? Because you’re not gonna fix your money problem. Yes or no? Do we have work people in the house? Should you be excited? No, I’m saying. So I’m gonna encourage you to be excited because there’s a secret. Because if you’re excited about the opportunity you’re in, people can ask you questions. Yes. When I see somebody’s going down, I know when you stop. When you stop being excited, I know you’re going down. Because the minute you start being excited, nothing interested you anymore.

06:26

You know what?

06:26

Waking me up and the money is not money. Before, like, you know, when I was broke, I said, man, when I got money, man, I’m not gonna. I’m not gonna do this, I’m not gonna do that. I’m not gonna do that. When I was. When I was broke, I realized, no, no. I got the money.

06:39

So this is not the money.

06:46

You don’t pay any money to be excited.

06:48

Be excited today. Be excited for yourself. Because this. And I’m telling you, our life’s about to change.

06:53

That’s secret.

06:53

Number one, being excited.

06:55

Can we be excited? Absolutely. We don’t pay any money. Number two. Where is he? No other choice. Listen, listen. Number two, the second thing that you got to do to win here, which is free beside excitement.

07:09

Number two.

07:09

Got to believe in yourself. Where is he? Talking about the enemy, number one, is belief. Let me tell you, I don’t know about you.

07:15

When I joined for America, I got two things in my head. Two little voice. One here, keep.

07:24

Remind me.

07:25

Sharmo, you’re a taxi driver.

07:28

You fooling yourself.

07:29

You’re going to make a million dollars at you. And they’re going to be wealthy, you’re going to be rich, blah, blah. Sit down, shaman. You don’t speak English.

07:37

Always remind me at the end you don’t speak English. But there’s another voice in my head. Say, shamay, you’re good. Looking at you. You’re good, you’re good. You’re going to make it here.

07:48

You know what I found out that this voice here is getting louder in my head every day. Keep feeling, guess What I did, I keep feeling this voice here. Solomon, you’re good. Like Savi did this morning. Keep saying, well, this is my here.

08:06

I’m gonna make money.

08:06

I’m gonna change my life. And I keep feeling this here voice here. You know what I found out? Little by little, that voice become bigger in my head. Now I look for this little voice here. I never find it anymore. So my question to you. Do you have that voice in your head right now?

08:23

Which one do you feel right now?

08:26

I promise you, after this meeting is over, you’re gonna be like, you know, said they oversee. Did you. Did you believe them? You know, these people fooling you? Is that right? No, no, no. You know, this thing is good for an artist. You heard his last name is artist, Olivia. British. But you are not.

08:44

But. Listen, I challenge you. When you hear that voice, get right to yourself. You say, well, sit down yourself. I’m not talking to you right now. You hear me talk to the white one. Is that right?

09:03

Belief.

09:04

Way before.

09:05

Believe you can. You know, way before you become a vice president, you gotta believe you can become a vice president yourself. This is what I know way before I become a vice president. Nikki, I work like a vice president because I heard a vice president doesn’t work like this. Some of you work like this, it’s over. Vice president, work like this. With chest up.

09:23

When you’re talking to vice president, say, what’s up? Is that right? Listen, the way they talk, the way.

09:33

They see things is different than, you know, somebody who’s not an rvp. Somebody’s not an rvp. You talk to them and say, man, you know, oh, man, I don’t know if this is going to work. Things are. They’re talking about negative stuff. But RVP said no. You understand? It just started.

09:46

My life is going to be great. Treat yourself like one, behave like one.

09:52

You will be one day. Yes or no? The second thing is to believe in yourself. You got to believe in yourself, otherwise, it’s not going to work.

10:03

The third thing that you have to.

10:05

Do to win is your commitment. Level of commitment. These things almost kill me.

10:14

Most people that I sit down with.

10:15

They say, shaman, I’m going to do this, I’m going to do that, say, congratulations. But you don’t find them. They’re coming for one hour. You can find them in next hour. You know what I thought? Like, you know, they were the problem. I found out I was the problem because I was not committed myself. My question to you right now, are you committed? We have A program in our office, you know, every morning. So we get together with the IVPs at 8:30. 8:30 in the morning. Every morning, 8:30. You know what I know? Those who are committed show up every morning, 8:30. Those who are not committed say, I slept last night very late. I cannot commit it. You got to be in the office at 8:30. We have one or two guys right now as a vice president.

11:05

Every morning he committed to be there at 8:30. I know for a fact his business is going to take off commitments. You made a commitment to do this business here. Things going to happen. Challenge will face you. But how do you react when you’re facing challenging, Olivia. Buddies talk about yesterday. So people like, you know, say, well, I got kids, you know, I can’t come this. I can’t do that. But when you are once you have to go to work, you find a way to have a babysitter and take care of them. Commitment. If you commit to win here, you will win here. And I tell people that all the time, this is the only company that I know. You are right about it yesterday when you say, you know, there’s no black thing here.

11:49

Seriously, a guy like me, from Haiti, no degree come here playing field. They say, shyamon, everybody start from square one. You start from square one like everybody else. Run as fast as you can. We’re gonna give you everything that you need, everything you want, everything you dream of. If you can’t make it here in Primerica, I feel so bad for you. You will not make it anywhere else. No, no, seriously. If you cannot make it here, quality is over for you. I don’t know about you. For a guy like me, I got no other choice to make this thing work for me. Yes or no?

12:30

No other choice. Let me tell you why.

12:32

Because. Let me tell you. Because anywhere I go right now, if I say I want to be the CEO of the company at&T Corporation, they’re looking at me. Say, who?

12:40

Who? So what’s your name again?

12:42

I said, my name is Sharman Jenestin. I said, what’s that?

12:49

No, seriously, they’re gonna say, what’s that? With that heavy accent. You mean you want to CEO of this company? Seriously?

12:59

Yes. I said, yes, sir. I said, get out of here. But, you know, I came in primarily. I said, I want to be CEO. They say, what? Yes, you can be a CEO of your own business. You understand? The pair As a CEO here, 1.7 million. As a CEO of money. Yes or no? Yes or no? So you said, no to your CEO. You don’t want to be a CEO here.

13:21

Seriously, if you don’t go to work.

13:23

That’s what you say. Commitments commit to win. Here, let me share these things with you before I leave the stage. Let me tell you see you right now, what people think of you is not who you are. Because when I came in this country, I live with my sister. My sister book had no money. $250 a week. And I started talking to my sister about my dream, my everything. She said, no, it’s not going to work. It’s not going to work. It’s not going to work. When I asked her why, she said, you remember, you don’t speak English, you’re from Haiti, you’re black. Is that right? Listen, listen, listen. I will start believing it at some point. This is what I found out. I found out that none of what she said was true because she was in God with the wrong people.

14:20

And people complaining today. Said, man, you hold me back. I want you to know nobody holds you back. You hold yourself back. You guys with me, nobody holds you except you hold yourself back. This ain’t the house. You live right now, that’s not your house. See, the car that you drive right now, that’s not your car. You know why you drive this car? Because you let somebody put that in your head. This year, it’s time for you to move out from your neighborhood.

14:50

Do you hear me? Do you hear me? This year is time for you to go ahead and get to the house you dream of. Yes or no? This year, this is the time for you to go drive the car that you’re supposed to drive. Yes or no? This year, this is the time for you to move, to put your kids to the school that you just. Your students deserve to be in the school. Is that right? And listen. All these things gonna happen for you if you decision yourself say, you know what?

15:13

This is not my house. This is not my car. This is not my neighborhood. So, guys, he said, Primerica is gonna.

15:20

Give you everything you fight for.

15:22

Let’s go fight for your dream in your life. Thanks for having me. Thank you.
