VIDEO SUMMARY
Anthony Barone begins by challenging the audience to reject mediocrity and recognize their potential for greatness. He defines mediocrity as settling for less than what you are capable of and explains that many people mistakenly believe they cannot change who they are. He strongly rejects that mindset, stating that change is necessary for growth.
He emphasizes that life gives you what you accept, but it also gives you what you fight for. If someone wants better results, they must be willing to change immediately. While not all change is positive, nothing good happens without change.
Anthony outlines six core steps to rise above mediocrity.
First, elevate the way you think. Your current thinking dictates your current lifestyle. If you want different results, you must change your mindset and be willing to be coached.
Second, embrace your limitless potential. Capabilities are based on potential, not past failures. Too many people focus on the rearview mirror instead of looking ahead.
Third, build a strong purpose and clear why. Having a mission statement, even if it evolves over time, creates direction and drive.
Fourth, practice accountability and responsibility. Every action, inaction, and choice affects not only your own path but also your team’s perception and reputation. Reliability, punctuality, and integrity shape your identity.
Fifth, commit fully. Following through, especially when you do not feel like it, builds a winning attitude. Consistency creates trust, integrity, and fellowship within a team.
Sixth, upgrade your circle. The people around you influence your thinking and emotional state. Surround yourself with those striving for improvement and protect yourself from limiting beliefs and negativity.
He concludes by emphasizing self-improvement. You cannot exceed your level of personal development. Success is attracted to the person you become. Read, study, grow, and develop productive habits.
Anthony closes by urging listeners to make a decision immediately, act on it, and stick to it long term. He shares that his own multi-decade career was built on persistence, especially when others questioned him. His final advice: have an ego big enough to succeed but small enough to learn.

Go. My talk today is about rising above mediocrity. You just proved that you’re not mediocre. You’re special. You’re extraordinary. See, one thing I understood is I wasn’t as smart as most people that I started this business with. I just knew I’d work their ass. I knew I’d last long enough that I would get the spoils. I broke your thingy. Not that thingy, this thingy. So hey, so let’s talk about that. So most people have a goal to maintain mediocrity. They go to high school and get good grades, they go to college, they go get a job, right? They sit at their job for eight hours and don’t fall asleep. But you come to a place where you could build a business and a residual six figure income and you got the guy next to you doing this crap to keep you awake, right? What?
00:57
So you got to find something to fire your ass up. I’m sorry I said I wasn’t going to do this today. I say this every time. I’m just going to do like six little points and sit down. Okay, so. Hey, hey. So mediocrity, let’s look at the definition. Selling for less than what you’re capable of. Have you all been guilty of that? At some point in our life. Right? Be honest with yourself. Right. So what happens is we mistakenly believe that who we are is who we are. And that’s wrong. Right? You got to understand, you can believe whoever you can be, whoever it is you want to be. But see, here’s one of the things I hear. You ever hear anybody ever say to you, that’s just who I am. That is the most lazy frickin attitude I’ve ever seen.
01:47
Yes, the way I am will friggin change. Because the way you think has gotten you to where you are right now. The reason why most of us come here is because we want something better. Yes or no? Yes or no? Yes or no? My God, man. So life gives you what you accept, but life will give you what you fight for. What are you willing to fight for if right now you’re looking at your watch, wonder when four o’ clock comes? I. I got news for you. Joe just bought an extra two hours of time. Some of you all just had a fricking heart attack. So listen, if you want something to change, you’ve got to change now. Not all change necessarily is good.
02:31
If you’re eating a very good diet and you go on the Anthony Barone meat and potatoes diet, that’s probably not Good, right? But see, the thing is, not all change is good, but nothing good happens without change. What are you going to change, right? So I’m going to give you six steps to rise above mediocrity. If I don’t have a heart attack. First, elevate the way you think. Number one, your current way of thinking dictates your current lifestyle. Now, if you’re happy with that, freaking fantastic. But if you’re not, let’s change the way we think, right? So, you know, bring thinking to the next level. The difference between mediocrity and the next level, the way you think, what you want out of this opportunity for you and your family and your willingness to change, your willingness to be coached.
03:25
Are you willing to change, yes or no? Are you willing to change? Yes or no? Embrace your limitless potential. Number two, right? My guys are probably going, if he makes it through six, I’ll be freaking shocked, right? Because I know I go from one and then all of a sudden they’re like, all right, what’s number two? I’m like, oh, I was done already. Embrace your limitless potential. Capabilities are based on potential, not the past, not the pet. Too many people look in the rear view mirror rather than out the freaking windshield, right? So what the mind can believe and achieve, I can’t even believe it can see if it can achieve. How many of you ever heard that before, right? So embrace your potential, build belief. Number three, life. Purchase your purposes, your why. What gets you out of bed in the morning?
04:17
What’s your clear purpose? Somebody talked about, I think it was David talking about clear. You got to have a clear purpose. What is your mission statement, right? It doesn’t have to be grand, but you got to have something and it’ll probably change, and that’s okay. That’s why most people don’t make commitments, by the way, which is coming up next, is because, well, what if I don’t make it? Well, what if you do? I remember Joe Enser getting in front of a room saying, well, the reason why, what if I don’t make $100,000 a year? But what if you do, right? Freaking master number number four, accountability, responsibility. If you want to get above mediocrity, you got to embrace this. Every choice, every action, every inaction, they will affect your path. Guess what? They affect the path of the person next to you.
05:01
If you show up late, it makes the team look bad. If you leave early, it makes the team look bad. That reflects on your business when you don’t show up because you don’t got nobody. And we show up because we got somebody, and they go, well, where is everybody? Well, they just didn’t feel like coming today because they didn’t have anybody. Shame on you. That’s selfish. You got to have a commitment. Every choice you make or don’t make develops your becoming. What are you becoming? It shapes your identity, shapes your reputation. What is your reputation? Do people know they can count on you? Do they know that you care about them? Do they know that you live and die to make this thing work? What do they know about you? What’s your reputation? Or is it, oh, they’re always late.
05:46
I don’t know what number that was. Number five. Number eight. Number ten. Accountability and responsibility brings out your best. It’s order, it’s progress, it’s improvement, it’s results. Find mentors and coaches that keep you on track. Number five, commitment. Choose to follow through. It’s the toughest thing. Most people choose to follow through, especially when you don’t want to. That’s how you develop a winning attitude. Every choice you make or don’t make, right? Sometimes not making a choice, it’s making a choice, right? So you got to make sure you got commitment, right? You must stay consistent with your commitment. Mean what you say and say what you mean, for God’s sake, right? People got to know. That’s how you build integrity. That’s how you build trust. That’s how you build fellowship. They know. Thank you. Thank you, Jessica. Jessica’s getting nervous. She’s like, holy shit.
06:47
I hope I don’t have to do cpr. Number six, update your. Upgrade your circle. Upgrade your circle. The people around you’re affected by their attitudes, their emotions, the way they think, right? Surround yourself with people striving to get better. You got to protect your thoughts and your words. They’re so valuable. They. Because they affect your actions. Seek encouraging, supporting people in your life. And it’s probably not the people you live with. News flash. I’m just telling you got to go find the people, protect yourself from their fears, their insecurities, their limiting beliefs. Got to self improve. As I wrap this up. You cannot exceed past your own level of improvement. You cannot succeed. You. You have got to. Success is attracted to the person, right? When you practice, when you study success, people that are successful will be attracted to you.
07:42
What are you reading? What are you listening to? Develop a mindset, right? Capabilities and habits. As you get better, life gets better, right? As you get worse, life gets worse. Today matters. Don’t procrastinate Decide what you’re going to do differently. The minute I put this microphone down. The minute Joe says to leave. Right. Decide what you’re going to do. Make a decision. Act on that decision. Stick to that decision for as ever, long as it takes. I’m here 30 plus years. I think it’s 31 years, Joe, that we’re here. I didn’t do it as fast as I wanted to do it, but I made a decision, I acted on it and I stuck to it. Even when people questioned it? Especially when people, David, questioned it. It just pissed me off more.
08:29
Listen, as I said, my last statement to you is, have an ego big enough to succeed but small enough to learn. God bless you all. Thank you.
