Thank you.
All right, all right.
Keep that song playing, baby.
Keep it going.
Hey, you know what? I’m going to help the people in the back feel like the ones that are sitting.
Everybody stand up.
Let’s go.
They don’t know what it’s like, all right? They cut the music.
Never mind.
All right, but listen, guys, you guys can sit down now.
All right, now you know what it’s like to show up late.
All.
All right, so I don’t have a clicker up here.
But listen, guys, what I’m going to talk to you guys about is just that, like David mentioned that mental prep, all right? But before I get started, I do want to say at the last tbls, somebody stole my selfie stick, okay? So I want you to take a long look at yourself.
Some of you guys will get that on Tuesday, all right? So anyways, that being said, listen, let’s get this thing started, man.
So mental prep before the game.
It really starts with you.
I mean, listen, anybody got haters? Right? Floyd? Right? Some people got haters.
I don’t know if you guys remember cat Williams back in the day when he told people, he told the crowd, he said, women, if you got 14 haters, you better figure out how to get to 16 by this summer, right? Like, you’re going to have people that are going to hate on you.
So you got to mentally prepare.
And then, look, Ziggler said you got to zip, man.
Put yourself in a positive shell, right? You got to start that way because you’re going to have people that are going to tell you that this isn’t going to work and so forth, they’re going to have all these negative things that they mentioned.
So besides blocking out the haters, look, you got to spend some time really working on you, because guess what? Once you block out the haters, the only problem is you’re with you all day.
You could be your own worst hater, right? If you end an appointment, a phone call, and it doesn’t go your way and you start bashing yourself, that’s a lot worse than the people that are hating on you, right? So don’t be that guy, right? Don’t be that guy just sitting there, just like, making yourself feel worse.
All right? Remember? That’s fine.
You can leave it there.
All right, so, look, you can’t win a game if you don’t know the rules.
Everybody’s seen that on the rule 72 page, right? But you can’t win a game either if you don’t mentally prepare right? Because you come into this thing and a lot of people come to primerica, you could go to the next one.
They come already with whatever they learned at their previous job, schooling, what have you, right? So you really can’t compare, all right? So you can’t win.
I said that one.
But preparation will be different for you than it is for the person next to you right now, right? I remember college temple talking about that, man, when college Temple came into business, it was like 5100 grand his first year.
Then 2nd, 200 and so on.
And if you sit there and try to compare yourself to college Temple, you’re probably going to jump off this building, right? Because you’re like, damn, man, I’m not moving that fast.
So you just got to know, you got to compete, but don’t compare.
And most importantly, guys, you got to know your why, right? Because if you know your why, when those tough times come, you’re going to understand that, hey, I got to keep pushing because of my kids or whatever it is.
That’s your why.
You got to write that down early on when you start this business, all right? And by the way, I want to give a shout out.
I don’t know if they’re here, but one of our rvps just, I think they’re flying in.
But listen, this is about mental toughness.
We meet with our team every morning and it’s funny, we just decided, right, Floyd and Dreshana, who by the way, double digited last three months in a row, give them a big round of applause.
But with our team, we started doing mental prep.
And just the other day we said, you know what, we’re starting this thing a little bit too late in the day.
So now we’re moving this thing up to like 666 because we used to start at nine.
But Aisha has been on there.
And Aisha, she’s only been in the company like a year and a half, two years and a few months ago she only had four recruits prior, worst month.
And then after that she did 27, 32 and now she’s at 38 so far for the month, right? I mean, just because of mentally prepping and starting it off, right? Yeah.
So she’s not here yet, but you guys could tell her I gave her a shut out.
All right, so look, you can’t put a timeline on success, right? Be patiently urgent, right? Both things are really important, guys.
You got to be patiently urgent when you start this thing, right? So you can’t get too tied up when things don’t go your way.
But think about this PFSU.
Right.
A lot of people.
How many people have ever had somebody that paid their 124 and then actually didn’t go to class? Right.
I thought it was just me.
All right, so it’s happened before.
Right? But people don’t understand that when it comes to school, it’s the same thing.
Right? I don’t care if you got a full ride to Harvard and you don’t show up to class, you’re not getting that degree.
Right.
So, in trainings, there’s a lot of people that don’t show up to training, but they’ll go to their job all day long.
I had somebody the other day tell me, hey, man, I can’t make it to training because of such and such.
I was like, oh, man, really? So that means you didn’t go to work today? Oh, no, I’m here right now.
Okay.
All right.
That doesn’t make too much sense now.
App count, right? Think about this.
If you have been here, let’s say, one year, and you do ten appointments a week, and there’s somebody who’s been here five years and only does two appointments a week who has more experience.
The person that was here for one year, right.
And a lot of times, people have been here for a long time.
I’ve been here for this long, and, oh, this guy’s winning.
Or right ahead of me.
Right.
And they’ve only been here a few months.
Why is that? It’s because a lot of times, people just aren’t doing the work required.
So you can’t look at that like, the way they do at a job, right? At a job, they’re like, oh, that guy’s been here for such and such long, right? But in primeric, it’s totally different.
It becomes the app count.
All right, so let me tell you something about kobe Bryant, right? Kobe Bryant is probably one of the guys that I study the most.
I think maybe that may be on the next slide there.
Oh, yeah.
Don’t be that guy.
All right? You guys have seen that person, right? All right.
Maybe they weren’t it the other way, but they’re sitting in the car by themselves.
Go figure.
But you got to protect it, right? So, look, kobe Bryant, man.
I studied a lot of stuff from Kobe Bryant, and one of the things he said was that he wanted to wake up early just so he could get more experience, right? So he would get up at in the morning and then go work out, just because he knew that if he didn’t work out until, like, ten or in the afternoon, he would possibly only get two workouts in, right? That was it.
He was like, I wanted to speed up the process.
So there’s a lot of stories out there of guys that played with him that mentioned this.
I remember dwayne Wade.
Dwayne Wade and Kevin Garnett.
Dwayne Wade and Kevin Garnett.
I believe they were at the Vegas games for the Olympics in 2008, right? And they said they got up at, like, on a Saturday at in the morning, and they went to eat breakfast.
And here comes Kobe Bryant walking in all drenched, and he’s got ice on his knees, right? He’s got ice on his knees.
They’re like, what in the world? This dude already had a full workout, and he’s 3 hours ahead of everybody, right? Another story was jay williams.
Jay williams said he showed up in the finals in game seven, and he says, you know what? I wanted to beat this guy.
So I showed up 3 hours early before the game, and I walked in, and who was already in the gym, it was kobe Bryant.
So he starts working out.
Jay williams working out on the other side of the court.
Kobe keeps working out.
Jay williams works out for an hour and a half.
Who’s still working out? Kobe Bryant.
Right? So after the game was Over, Kobe dropped 40.
Right? After the game was over, he went over to me, he goes, dude, why were you working out so hard? He said, because I saw you come in the gym.
He says, I wanted you to know that no matter how hard you work, I was going to work harder than you.
Right? This is the mentality that he had.
And in Primerica, guys, listen, we got to put that kind of work in, man.
Look at this quote from him.
If you see me in a fight with a bear, pray for the bear, right? Like, that’s the kind of mentality that this guy had.
And you got to put that kind of stuff into Primerica because a lot of us didn’t come with that.
When I came to Primerica, there was no entrepreneurship in my family.
None of that stuff.
I had to come learn it, right.
I think maybe it was Carlos.
He spoke at an event I went to recently.
He said he had somebody that was in a regional leader or in the business of 14 years, and all of a sudden they went to RVP.
And she said, oh, it took me 15 years to get to RVP because, no, it didn’t.
Took you a year.
Took you a year because that’s when you decided to do it, right? You had kind of made yourself the person that needed to be.
That you needed to be in order to go to RVP within that year.
So look, you got to mentally prep.
All right? So I’m going to leave you guys with this last thing in regards to.
Let’s see if I find this thing.
All right, so look, you can’t put a timeline on success, guys.
You can’t do that.
When you come in this business, I encourage you to have that conversation with your new people that they can’t put a timeline on success.
Because think about if you’re a kid, right? If you have kids, or hopefully everybody was a kid one day, right? Makes sense.
So imagine your kid came home from school and they said, hey, dad, mom, I failed this spelling B test.
I’m done with third grade, I think.
This isn’t for me.
Right? You tell them to get right back up and do it again.
So I’m talking to the people that you’re six months passed for your securities, if you know what I mean.
You have to wait those six months and you still haven’t taken it.
Right? There’s people that have waited two years.
I don’t want to take it again because then I got to wait six months.
But it’s been two years.
You could have taken it four times, right? Like, guys, the same things that we would tell our kids, we got to make sure we tell ourselves, right? So I’m going to leave you with this last joke here.
All right? So about mentally prepping.
So I don’t know if you guys heard of this, but there was an old man that was driving his Lamborghini, right? And he’s driving his Lamborghini and he’s flying down the road.
All of a sudden he sees a cop come behind him.
So he speeds up, right? He starts doing like 120.
Then the cop speeds up, so he keeps going, he pushes it to 140, and this keeps happening.
Then finally he pulls over and the cop says, listen, I’m on my way to vacation with my wife and kids, so if you give me a really good excuse, I’ll let you go.
This guy’s been prepping for a long time in his lambo, right? He said, well, look, years ago, my wife left with a policeman.
And I thought you were bringing her back.
Thank you, guys.
